Carolyn Markey is President and Chief Executive Officer of Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA), a national non-profit membership organization and economic coalition representing more than 200 non-profit, community-based visiting nurse agencies. VNAA provides membership programs, educational events, business development, managed care marketing and contracting, communications, national imaging and group purchasing services for its members.

Ms. Markey joined VNAA in 1997. She is a Registered Nurse and has more than 23 years of experience in home health care administration. Most recently, she was National Director of Home Care for HEALTHSOUTH Corporation of Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to that, Ms. Markey served as Chief Executive Officer for Special Care Home Health Services/ AdvantageHEALTH Corporation in Woburn, MA. In both positions, she was responsible for the operations of $100 million home care multi-state network

As President of VNAA, Ms. Markey has been successful in obtaining legislative reform in Congress that increased home health reimbursement for visiting nurse agencies. She has launched a national imaging campaign that includes partnerships with major corporations such as Kimberly Clark, EndoPharmaceuticals and Aventis Pasteur. She has also been successful in obtaining national managed care contracts and corporate partnerships for VNAA members.

Ms. Markey is past president of the Massachusetts Association of Home Health Providers and has served as a member of the board of directors of The Med Group in Lubbock, Texas. She also serves on the board of The Coalition of Not for Profit Health Care in Washington, D.C. and is a member of United Way’s Leadership 18 Association.
