"Red Flags" Rule for Healthcare Providers

TeleconferenceA VNAA member, the VNA Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri, implemented a "Red Flags" Rule Corporate Compliance Policy in an effort to establish policies and procedures for use by staff and business associates in identifying, detecting and responding to red flags that indicate possible identity theft, all in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. The VNA is also requiring that all employees be tested on their knowledge of Red Flag Rules, policies and procedures.

The VNA Corporation has offered to share these documents with all VNAA members to use as guides in creating their own compliance policies and tools. Download the policy and tests below.

Notice: The Federal Trade Commission has delayed enforcing the "Red Flags" Rule until November 1, 2009, to allow providers more time to develop and implement policies and procedures.
